Rest Of World Data Roaming Alerts Update Jan 18

Rest Of World Data Roaming Alerts Update

We have been working with the Network on an improvement in service when it comes to ROW Data roaming, this means that going forward you will  receive the following alerts when in O2 Travel Pass Zones:

ALERT 1

“You’ve used 80% of your data allowance on your first Worldwide 24 Hour Pass. You have a maximum of two passes per day, after which data is charged per MB.”

ALERT 2

“You’ve used 100% of your data allowance on your first Worldwide 24 Hour Pass. You have a maximum of two passes per day, after which data is charged per MB. ”

ALERT 3

“You’ve used 80% of your data allowance on your second Worldwide 24 Hour Pass. You have a maximum of two passes per day, after which data is charged per MB.”

ALERT 4

“You’ve used 100% of your data allowance on your second Worldwide 24 Hour Pass. Your data will now be charged per MB.”

After this point you will be paying the per Mb out of bundle charges. If a user racks up charges of over £100 in a 24 hour period then the system is set up to place a GPRS bar. The user will then receive the following message:

“A data bar has been placed on your number due to high roaming data consumption. To review this, please contact your provider.”

Please be aware that we are reliant on O2 receiving the data from the foreign networks, and the hourly file from O2 in order to process this usage to generate the alerts. This can often be several hours behind when the data session was generated. Users need to be aware of the amount of data included in each travel pass country and stay within this limit to prevent overage charges.

Please make you are aware that when travelling to countries not included in travel pass they are just charged a per Mb Rate for all usage which is upwards of £6 per Mb dependent on country of travel.

Effective 1st January 2018 you will get an allowance of two Travel passes per 24 hours – UK time, and then be charged overage thereafter.

There are also some changes to Zones:

Bahamas and Bermuda have moved to Zone 5
Sierra Leone, Iraq and Gambia have moved to Zone 5
Lebanon is now back in Zone 5
